Adding a new section in the Blogger template to add gadget or widget is possible in a conventional way. You can change the layout style of the template using the template customizer tool in the Blogger.
But this does not work with most heavily customized Blogger template available.
So for adding a new section for gadgets/widgets in Blogger; you will need to use a one line code in template body or your Blogger blog and you are good to go.
